CAROLINA HURRICANES MONEYLINE: 2 UNITS (-135)

The Carolina Hurricanes have been red-hot as of late going 7-2-1 (70%) in their last 10 games and 14-5 in their last 19 games (73.6%). We will be supporting them as the home team in a key divisional matchup tonight vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Hurricanes are 11-4 in their last 15 home games (73.3%) and have thrived vs. upper-echelon competition winning 4 of their last 5 games (80%) vs. teams with a winning record. Both teams have been impressive as of late, but Carolina has a significant current edge in the goaltending department which has solidified them as a selection tonight. Curtis McElhinney has been incredible this season, and recorded a shutout vs. Pittsburgh in the last meeting between these teams last month. Pittsburgh has been simply average on the road this season going 18-11-7 (50%), losing bettors -1.94 units in the process. Supporting Carolina is the contrarian approach to this game as Pittsburgh is a popular selection among the general public with up to 65-70% of bettors supporting an Evgeni Malkin-less Penguins on the road at a seemingly generous, but ultimately trappy underdog price. We look forward to being on the right side of this matchup.
