May 1, 2019

MLB EXPERT PICKS - FULL ANALYSIS ATTACHED

ATLANTA BRAVES -1.5 RUNLINE: 1 UNIT (+125)

Wins Above Replacement Ranking: 4th (Padres: 28th)

Total Offensive Index Ranking: 6th (Padres: 29th)

Total Defensive Index Ranking: 7th (Padres: 2nd)

These two teams are on complete opposite sides of the spectrum and we will be supporting the Braves to secure a dominant victory over the Padres who are ranked 28th and -24 ranks behind Atlanta on our WAR rankings. San Diego has the current 29th ranked offense and just lost their best offensive player through April in Fernando Tatis who was batting .300 with 6 HR's. They have a current .202 team batting average. The Braves have had tremendous success versus the Padres at home winning their last 11 of 13 games in Atlanta (84.6%). There is hype surrounding Padres pitcher today in Cal Quantrill, a former 1st round pick who is making his MLB debut. Quantrill is a top prospect in the Padres system but has a 4.45 ERA in the minors this season and has yet to touch an MLB mound. 25-year-old Max Fried, on the other hand, has been dominant for the Braves to start the season. 4 of his 5 starts have been Quality Starts. Fried has a 2.30 ERA, an impressive 1.09 WHIP (walks hits per inning pitched) with a 26 strikeout to 7 walk ratio. He is also benefiting from solid run support with Atlanta generating nearly 6 runs per game in Fried starts.
