Welcome to Expert Betting Network’s coverage of the NBA playoffs. We have had a successful and profitable season leveraging data to predominantly get an advantage pursuing over/under totals. We will be using this same data combined with ongoing playoff data to pursue totals, but also spreads and + value moneyline plays. The NBA regular season is a great time to leverage data to capitalize on scoring totals. We avoided spreads for the most part because the NBA is notorious for unpredictable regulat season effort levels, home/away performance, injuries and ‘load management’. The NBA playoffs obviously amp up and these variables disappear so we will be getting back to predicting spreads as well. Let’s have a profitable post-season. Good luck:

ORLANDO MAGIC+9.5: 1 UNIT (-110)

Nikola Vucevic brings massive importance to the Magic clinching this spread. After being held out with injury down the stretch he is 100% expected to play in game 1. Orlando was on a heater to finish the season without him, and he brings massive added importance to this lineup. The Magic had a +4.6 point differential with him in the lineup this year, and a -6 differential without him. The Raptors only had a +6 point differential on the season and +7.5 differential at home in Toronto, so for them to win by 10 points is a tall task tonight; especially considering how hot Orlando was down the stretch. The Magic are on an absolute heater. They finished the last 5 games of the season with the 4th best point differential in the NBA (+10.2) and the 3rd best offense averaging 121.8 points per game. Up to 65% of the public are supporting the hyped #2 seed Raptors, but Orlando with 10 points seems like a steal based on the current data. The Magic didn’t just limp into the playoffs, they broke the door down going 8-2 in their last 10 games (80%), and winning 11 of their last 13 games (84.6%) down the stretch. This should be a much closer game than anticipated and we will support one of the hottest teams in the NBA with a 10-point cushion. This is a completely different Raptors team than previous years, but until they exercise their playoff demons we will support the underdog with double-digit plus points.
