NBA PICKS APRIL 17 - INDIANA PACERS VS BOSTON CELTICS PICK & ANALYSIS

April 17, 2019

NBA EXPERT PICKS - FULL ANALYSIS ATTACHED

BOSTON CELTICS -7.5: 1 UNIT (-110)

The difference in efficiency and performance at home for the Celtics and on the road for the Pacers is too staggering not to support Boston here. On the road this season, Indiana were ranked 22nd in points per game (107.3), while the Celtics were 9th at home holding teams to the exact same mark (107.3) with a +6.8 point differential. The data suggests the books have certainly nailed this total, but the amplification of playoff intensity and recent Pacers suggests they are simply fizzling out. Indiana got by in the season, but the loss of Victor Oladipo is starting to doom this team and all signs point to their offense continuing to be non-existent.

Game 1 brought the Pacers their lowest scoring game of the season, scoring just 34 points, -15 points below their season average. They were limited to 29 points in the 2nd half, making just 8 field goals shooting an abysmal 21.1% in the process. They shot just 12-21 (57%) and were overall atrocious in every offensive cateory. This wasn’t just one bad game. Down the stretch the Pacers were held to under 100 points in 3 of their last 4 games, including a 117-107, 20-point loss versus the Celtics in the last week of the season. Boston was also unimpressive offensively notching just 84 points and shooting 36%. They still managed to win by 10. If we trust any team to get back to their season offensive average, it’s Boston (112.4 points per game). The Pacers were 4thbiggest deficit team on the road this season, covering the number in just 41.5% of their games.
